What you can check for free
Free credit report pages are high-intent because users need to understand accounts, missed payments, defaults, judgments and possible errors before applying for credit.
Experian, TransUnion and ClearScore are useful starting points, but each service has its own sign-up flow, score display and offer model.
What to check before signing up
Check who provides the report, whether the service is free forever or a trial, whether card details are required, how your data is used and whether personalised offers are part of the service.
A free credit score is not the same as guaranteed loan approval. Treat personalised offers as advertising or eligibility guidance unless the provider clearly says otherwise.
Credit repair scam warning
Be wary of credit repair promises, upfront-fee fixes, WhatsApp agents who ask for passwords, and anyone claiming they can delete accurate credit information for a payment.
If you find incorrect information, use the official provider's dispute process or recognised credit-bureau channels instead of paying an anonymous agent.
